Who's Losing Learning?
The Who's Losing Learning Coalition - an alliance of IPPR, the Difference, Impetus and Mission 44 - have got together to analyse the latest DfE data on absence, temporary and permanent exclusions, finding:
- The equivalent of 4,100+ children each day have been losing learning due to suspension from school;
- Permanent exclusions have risen above pre-pandemic levels - 9,376 children were permanently excluded from schools across England in 2022/23;
- There has been an 80% rise in suspensions from pre-pandemic levels (a 36%/ year-on-year rise between 21/22 and 22/23;
- More than half (55%) of all suspensions were among children growing up in poverty (using FSM eligibility data);
- Children from mixed white and Black Caribbean backgrounds were 85% more likely than average to be suspended from school.

CPOMS Strengthening Safeguarding Through Staff Wellbeing
Guest speakers Daniel Wilsher and Thomas Wilsher explore how staff mental health and stress management are essential in creating a positive school culture and the important role that staff wellbeing plays in safeguarding our students in this free webinar from CPOMS on Tuesday 24th September from 3-4pm.

Neurodivergence and Suicide Risk
The Zero Suicide Alliance is a fantastic resource for free training on coping with the difficult conversations of suicide and suicidal ideation. What's more, they have specific training on Autism and Suicide Awareness that covers:
- info on autism and suicide risk;
- shared real experiences;
- coaching on spotting the signs and supporting an autistic person;
- shared resources for further support.
Their free 30 minute training can be accessed on their website.
